Strut rod nut -- damn

Hi folks,
Installing new strut mounts and bearings on my 2002 Aero and was able to use a 21mm spark plug socket (which has a hex top) along with a T50 wrench successfully on one side. Changed the mount and bearings--simple. But the other strut's nut seems really torqued on there--I ended up *breaking* three successive T50 wrenches. I tried my own electric impact driver but it's too weak. At this point, what would the list recommend? (The vice-grips on the strut rod isn't working and I don't want to go that route any further and risk scarring up the rod.)
Do folks feel that a local shop with an air-wrench should be able to get the nut off? Thanks for any feedback.
