AGM Battery charging symptom Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Sun, 29 Mar 2015 17:05:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 2 year old duralast platinum "agm" battery. I didn't know what an absorbent glass mat battery was until today. So anyway I haven't been using the car much lately and every now and then its hard to start, cranks fine, just doesn't start. This is like what happened when my old battery was going bad, so I threw it on a charger (its not an approved agm charger). As I watched the amps needle it would start at 8, slowly work its way down to 4, and then jump back up to 6. Slowly work its way down to 4 and then jump up to 6. And kept doing this. I ran the battery up to the parts store where they load tested it, it failed the first time and passed the next 3 times. Do I need to worry about this battery? Why was it charging erratically like that? What do you think?
