My SAAB Arc sat for 2 years with little use while I leased a Nissan Leaf (bad idea). Lots of catch-up maintenance and repairs done. Radiator, water pump, T-stat, hoses, belts, PCV maint, filters, wheel bearing, etc. Now the past couple of days, I'm getting a 2-3 shift flare. Meaning as it shifts, it free-revs up then engages 3rd. I took it to an independent shop and they suggested a fluid change and adding something called Lubegard before doing a major repair? The fluid is really clean as I change 4 quarts every 3rd engine oil change. I can do another change but not sure about adding snake-oil? Anyway, car is a 2002 with 125K miles in very good condition. But if I need to replace the transaxle, that is probably a deal breaker. I also think it may be due for a turbocharger too. I didn't ask for a quote on the transaxle repair if needed.
