Be careful ..the systems are not that complex ,but fragile . The brake controller gets the signal from the brake light . It has no logic , when you press the brake pedal , it sends a battery line charge {via the brake light cable} , which actuates the brake . There is no feed back system , and the SAAB lighting circuit is very sensitive . But if all the connections are fuse linked , it does work . I tapped all the wires in the spare area .
A controller helps balance the braking , I don't think it fits the 9-5 cockpit . Any trailer over 1500 lbs is pushing safety limits .
I have pulled a 4x7 trailer with my 2000 v6 wagon for the past six years . Not a big trailer , but a plywood box built on an old motorcycle hauler . I get better mileage fully loaded ! Of course the v6 doesn't even notice the weight of the trailer .
Beats the heck out of the rear tires ,etc .
Saab is not a Freightliner .
