Cold Weather Woes - Need some diagnostic help ! Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Wed, 13 Jan 2016 18:43:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The patient is '06 Sport Combi w. 121K miles. It has finally become winter in Minnesota, and my daughter called to say the the 'gear shaped light' was on and the car seemed sluggish. I asked if she warmed it up at all after sitting outside all night at -15 F. She said no. After letting it warm up the next time, she said shifting was normal, but the lights were still on - trans and engine warning.
Today, 2 days later, I got to read the codes that were still present:
P0304, P1312, P1334, P1110, and P0962.
I was expecting some transmission code with other red herrings thrown in as secondary. But none of these are transmission - I think. I did not have time to get under the hood and look at the vacuum hose to the turbo bypass valve (TBV) . . . I will tomorrow. Hose and TBV were replaced this summer (TBV diaphragm leaked).
The first three DTC's together scream DIC or plugs, but the platinum NGK plugs and DIC were new about 4K miles ago (SEM TK3.7E), so it seems a little strange. I could not find the P0962 in any search of this board. I have erased codes and we will watch like a hawk. I can switch in a spare DIC if needed.
So my questions are really around whether the trifecta of P0340/P01312/P1334 can be caused by a fault with the turbo bypass valve or by a cold, poorly shifting transmission (fluid 3X drain and fill this summer).
Thanks in advance for any insight!
