I recently performed this repair on my 05 Aero. I thought the crimps looked professionally made and weather tight.
I wanted to recommend for the next "victim" to disconnect and reconnect the computer.
In my experience, edge connectors will often give the symptoms of a failed cage card, in this case the computer.
You really have nothing to loose. Disconnecting and reconnecting will take approx 1 min or less.
I found it slightly difficult to strip the environmental splice.
Needless to say, the repair was effective, however, I had to disconnect and reconnect the edge connector in the course of the repair.
good luck and please post your results
