I may be all wet here, but my understanding is that the blend door kits are designed to fix (1) breaks in the shaft - not breaks in the connection of the shaft to the drum or (2) broken stop arms, where the shaft is intact. Neither of this, I think would prevent the problem that you encountered.
IIRC from reading on this board, the more common issue was stop arm, and that Saab took actions at some point (early 2000s, I think) to strengthen the weak point on that stop arm. I don't know if that also applied to other parts of the heater box assembly. I also seem to recall reading of a update in the ACC software that was intended to help address the motor force on the stop arms.
I guess as I think about this, if you assume that the replacement part is at worst no better than the original, and you got ~14 or 15 years from the original then its probably not a huge risk that it becomes an issue anytime soon.
