Oil lines? Posted by Gene N [Email] (#1094) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gene N) on Tue, 21 Feb 2017 11:50:45 In Reply to: small oil leak near air filter ?, mlc [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 18 Feb 2017 16:02:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yes, the oil cooler lines do go bad over time. I had one line that had a small leak around the crimp ferrule. I was going get the line repaired (remove the lines, take them to a hydraulic shop, and crimp new hose on the old fittings), but I checked the prices for replacement lines from eEuroparts and it wasn't too bad. I bought new lines and that fixed the problem. Since then, I noticed that Rock Auto has aftermarket parts that are even cheaper, but they are likely to be of inferior quality. On a 2001 with 230k miles, the cheaper lines might outlast the car.
