That sound logical to me, but I'm not a mechanic — much less a Saab mechanic — nor am I competent to take on any DIY repairs.
First I'll try having my car guys swap out both IDMs/DICs for the other two used ones I've had since 2006. Those are both TK4.4 (the earlier bad ones), so they may well be kaput.If that turns out to be a bust (as SWEDECAR says is likely), I think I'll just order two new TK4.6 IDMs from eeuroparts and have them put in.
My 1999 Sportwagon has been such a great car. My total cost over 12 years, including purchase price, gas, insurance, repairs, and every other expense has been less than $24,000. Hard to beat that. I don't mind spending $2-3,000 if necessary to get another couple years from the car.
