recently started with a fuel smell in the cabin. it is intermittent and the strength of the doeror varies from faint to quite strong. It seems to be strongest under load, but i cannot reliably reproduce it.
a week before this started I replaced the fuel pump. at the time the return fuel fitting broke and I replaced that as well. There is no wetness in the fuel pump area, the fuel fitting bracket is in place and snug.
this car does have the leaking fuel pressure sensor mount. it will occasionally throw the associated code. But it has never smelled of fuel before, and (if it matters) the code is not currently set.
I checked the fuel rail, schrader valve. also dry.
the fuel filter appears dry as well.
any other thoughts? what am I missing?
