I have a modified ECU/ECM that has a tech mode and can see ECU/ECM data on the SID.
I can see the heat soak on the air intake temperature sensor and I assume that is the one in the plastic intake pipe up near the bypass valve. Great fun sitting in a hot car, engine shutdown, watching the reading.
With the conjecture that this TB might be having wiper conductivity problems in the mostly closed throttle positions:
I can watch the intake manifold pressure drop as the engine gets fully hot, around 360mb. I have been blipping the throttle at idle with AC and headlamps off. That causes the pressure to drop to around 70mb and I can exercise the portions of the variable resistors [position sensors] that do not get much traffic, hopefully wiping them clean.
I know that this is wishful thinking, but when my wife left the care running at the garden center to avoid the problem, with IAC function working the throttle, the vehicle ran perfectly for a while after that. So we know that the heat soak problem can be intermittent. My thinking was that the hot idling cleared some conductivity issue in the TB.
I know that I don't have a torn turbo hose because I have great power and boost easily into the red zone.
