I don't know what constitutes "OK", but back in the day my 9-5 didn't throw a catalytic converter fail code, but when the dealer tech ran the tech II test, it was declared failed as per Saab's published procedure. Because the rear sensor output was jumping around in sync with the front sensor. Good for me, as the reason it was in the shop was for the front sensor junction (O2 sensor no signal) code, and the dealer comped me the junction repair under the (Warranty paid) catalytic converter replacement.

Do you have chapter and verse regarding the rear sensor output?
