new shut down protocol for my 9-5 - Saabnet.com Bulletin Board
It has occurred to me that temps underhood in the 9-5 can spike very high. Since my car is kinda old, in warm temps I make sure I turn on the AC before a short distance from my house and cool the engine from up to 99 down to about 87 celcius. I think the fans and airflow also help. I I nuts? I think the ABS, throttle body, seals and pretty much all the electrics are prone to being cooked, at peak temp I think 10 degrees can make a huge diff....I think in the future with my next cars I will wire a turbo timer to run the fan for 20 sec after shutdown.
