Hmmmm.. I thought I was dealing with a burned out driver side backup light on my recently purchased 2008 9-5 Aero. To my surprise, there is no driver side backup light on the 4 DR Sedan version!! There is on the Combi wagon version (according to my owner's manual diagram). Seems like a dumbass design decision and could be a bit of discussion when I take the car in for it's first safety inspection. I see that the driver side lens also does not have any white plastic insert as the right side does for the single backup light on that side. Any chance I can swap out a wagon driver side lens and maybe get a 2 circuit socket and bulb as a replacement? The backup wiring could be spliced in from the working passenger side backup circuit and the separate fog light circuit would light the second filament of the new bulb.
Sounds like a doable fix, if the driver side lens from a wagon can be fitted. Whaddyathink??
