1999 9-5 SE 2.3lpt 280k miles
1) swapped spark plugs routine 30k for me. NGK BCPR6ES. all was well for couple days. car always cranks right up.
2) couple days later had no-crank in morning. battery and starter seem fine turning over plenty. eventually cranked after few tries. ran great for 40 miles to work. sat at work all day then had lots of trouble starting. eventually cranked. ran great again to home. tried again at home and fired right up.
3) next day morning started on 2nd try. sat at work all day then that evening could never get to start. tach was moving some while turning starter. lifted rear seat can hear quiet hum of fuel pump priming for few seconds when turning key to ON. would never start. wiggled wires going into DIC. tapped on DIC. never would start. got it towed home. did not crank at home either that night.
4) next day cranked first try multiple times like nothing wrong. and the next day as well. and the next day as well. did not drive any as did not trust it. cranked again yesterday on first try mid-day on first try of day.
If it starts it runs perfectly. no issues. no CEL. need to check for codes anyway I suppose. tach is twitching/moving on no-starts but could CPS still be just going? I can hear nice quiet whine (not groaning) fuel pump priming. Once starts never has quit on me while driving.
CPS was replaced OEM in 2005 at 73k no issues since
Fuel pump was replaced OEM at dealer in 2006 at 96k no issues since
DIC last replaced with OEM in 2016 by Saab cert tech at 252k miles
ordered Bosch CPS for $65 but now wondering if something else since tach is moving? part should arrive soon. thoughts? thanks guys I have been reading old posts for days!
