My first reaction after I read your description was the CPS. When running, is there ever a time when you come to a stop light and it dies?
On a different vehicle, my tach did more than twitch, it bounced up to about 100 rpm while cranking.
I've never known a DIC failure of any sort to produce what you are seeing, so I'd rule it out.
Is it possible to check the fuel line pressure at the distribution rail? (rule out fuel pump).
The only other thought is a vacuum line intermittent leak, but I would expect a bouncing drive to make it stall while driving. Ever replace the vacuum lines?
Good luck
