Give a Mouse a house and . . . receive a repair opportunity Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Mon, 2 Oct 2017 08:09:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It was mid-June when I last drove our '99 SE, 'Silver Sal'. I took her out of the garage for backup duty last week, and I noticed a puddle on the garage floor, plus drips out onto the driveway! Yup, gasoline. Pulled her back into the garage, shut down, inspected under - and all leakage was from above. I popped open the fuel pump cover (after removing FP fuse) to see the picture I linked.

Well, that picture was halfway into my cleanup. The amount of grass sitting in a full puddle of fuel was impressive, in a way.
I was fortunate to have the right size of reinforced high quality fuel line handy and appropriate airplane clamps. I cut out the damage, removed old line from the return connector, and installed a splice (with double clamps holding the new line over the old rigid line). Back on the road in about an hour.
Nature is wonderful, but it can rearrange your day !
