Cleaning shouldn't hurt, as suggested, but won't help if the internal electronics are starting to fail.
I didn't think my engine was running poorly -- just stumbled / stalled right after an overnight or end of workday cold start. Seemed fine after that.
Since the new MAF, no issues starting, it pulls stronger and my MPG is up.
MAF sensor readings are important inputs to the air/fuel ratio regulation, which is why a failing MAF can cause the symptoms cheaptech mentioned.
Anyway, just my experience. Can't speak to the cap, although I would think that if it were leaking pressure enough to generate the code, it would cause this issue on nearly every start where the car sits for more than an hour. I could be all wet on that, though.
