Cranks, cuts, then starts Posted by fdw201 [Email] (#2066) [Profile/Gallery] (more from fdw201) on Fri, 20 Oct 2017 09:45:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |

The last few mornings, the car has been cranking (but not starting) at a slower than normal speed for about 3 or 4 seconds and then the cranking cuts out/stops completely. It would be like if I stopped turning the key, except that I'm not. It's not an electrical "failure" because everything else comes online just like it should, just dead silence on the starter.
I turn the key back off, turn it and crank again, and it starts up right away. Subsequent cranks later in the day are slower than normal but engine fires up. No other symptoms.
Does this sound like a potential problem with the starter? The slower turn over sounds like it could be a weak battery, but the battery, alternator, and positive cable were replaced almost 1 year ago exactly.
