2005 9-5, ARC, 87,400 miles. Engine fires, starts, then immediately dies. All advice welcome! The engine will start up, run about one or two seconds, then die. This is my son Brandon's car. he is the second owner and has driven approximately 18K miles problem free. This issue began while driving down I-24 one week ago around 70 - 75 mph. A sudden lurching / rumbling from the engine...followed by loss of power...engine died....lights stayed on...rolled to a stop. The car was towed to nearest SAAB Tech, (which happened to be 7 miles in this instance), for safety and diagnostic. The information was that diagnostic revealed a needed Direct Engine Cassette, new Plugs, and Battery, which were replaced. The car ran fine the return trip one week later. However, the next day the CEL appeared....code P0420. Then the next morning while attempting to leave for work, the car would start, run one or two seconds, and die. With same result each subsequent attempt. All ideas and advice are welcome! Thank you!!!
