Wagon seatback stuck Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Sun, 3 Dec 2017 06:32:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Having a spot of trouble getting the left (big) seatback to fold down on my 2002 Aero.
A couple weeks ago, I needed to install the retractable cargo net. This mounts to the left seatback, and you need to remove the back trim (carpet) after removing the plastic cover around the release handle.
I didn’t have the tool i needed (Dremel) to complete the job, so the trim & cover were left off until I was home and could install them again.
Drove home, seat folded & net up, no problem. Put the seat back up, no problem. But now that I want to finish the job, I can’t get the seat back to fold. The latch appears to be releasing, but I’m not certain there isn’t a second mechanism I can’t see. And the seat is firm, like it is still latched, there’s no movement at all.
Parts diagrams show what looks like a rod or cable that goes down the outer side of the seat back, then has a 90 degree bend toward the center of the car. I’m wondering if that goes to a second latch mechanism.
Thoughts?
