Poly bushing install and exhaust help/guidance Posted by Gregg [Email] (#677) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gregg) on Sun, 3 Dec 2017 16:21:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Big weekend on the car. Dropped subframe, oil pan and now it looks like exhaust.
So, I've taken to replacing all of the subframe, control arm, and sway bar bushings on Saabrina (04 wagon manual with 230K on the odometer). I dropped the subframe (surprisingly easy) and removed all of the bushings. I've trying to replace with Powerflex bushings, but I'm trying to find a path to install them. The instructions from powerflex are for replacing on the car. I've got a rented ball joint press from Advance Auto to use with the subframe out.
I've tried using soapy water and vaseline to try and coax these in. I suppose I could cut the bushings in half and install, but I figure there is a reason they are supplied this way.
I'm open to any homemade solutions.
I've got at least two weeks before parts that broke arrive from eEuro (control arm rear bolt snapped, the oil trap to oil pan hose, exhaust support brace).
The oil pan was easy and clean. That made me happy. But the two bolts at the intermediate exhaust snapped when dropping the cat. When I look at the next section of exhaust it's worse. So, I think I'll be replacing the exhaust while I've got it all up on stands.
I'm looking at the Krona exhaust. Does anyone have experience with this brand?
