all years, though maybe better 2006+? Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Thu, 7 Dec 2017 05:23:15 In Reply to: Not to thread jack, Eaton, Thu, 7 Dec 2017 03:21:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 2004 arc was eating tires in a bad way when we got it. Inside edge and cupping. Ride height was low front and back. New Konis all around, wagon springs in the back, new bushings, and I have a small spacer on each side in the back. This car is the standard ride height, not lowered like aeros, but it still had the same problems, especially when loaded with gear (we use our cars as family haulers, many long trips loaded to the gills). Our indy is a SAAB specialist and aligns closer to 0 degree camber, at least for 9-5's used to haul stuff, as it makes things less likely to go awry. I believe they slot rather than shim.
I do agree with saabsince93b that in general one should start by getting the ride height correct for your setup (if you have custom 18" rims, the ride height tables for 17" or 16" saab rims are not going to work).
Of course if everything is working well now, you are gold. You might have got there in a not optimal way, but if it works it works, and especially with your rim setup, you would probably need to make adjustments anyway.
I keep hearing that 2006+ cars are less susceptible to these issues - maybe different springs or bushings or something? Our 2005 wagon does not seem to have any serious issues yet and it has quite a few miles so I'm kind of surprised/expecting them to crop up soon!
