3 LINK DESIGN Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Thu, 7 Dec 2017 09:09:56 In Reply to: Re: START WITH RIDE HEIGHT, ffb13, Thu, 7 Dec 2017 07:35:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The 9-5 uses a pretty standard 3 link design for the rear suspension. Much much better than the old beam axle in earlier cars.
I bristle at people calling it defective. It is pretty standard in the industry.
The suspension can be fixed. We currently have 4 each 9-5 Aeros in our family from 2000 to 2004 with the suspension working well and not cupping and crazy tire wear. One is a sedan and 3 others are wagons. The shocks are either Koni, Bilstein or OEM.
ALL have spring spacers in the rear. One has rose bushings replaced and new poly forward bushing on trailing arm. The rest are just well adjusted with 4 wheel alignment by a good shop. I can't emphasize enough that ride height in the rear is critical.
