Brake Pedal Groan Posted by fdw201 [Email] (#2066) [Profile/Gallery] (more from fdw201) on Wed, 27 Dec 2017 15:08:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm having some brake pedal groan at low speeds (over speed bumps, in traffic), and found a post from 2002 (wow!) that is pasted in and linked below. I can also feel some light vibration through the pedal when the groaning occurs.
Is the author of this post talking about the SAI pump or something else? Does this apply to my car? 2003 3.0 Arc. Also saw some posts about lubricating the booster rod - is that possible? This pump seems more likely because the noise is so mechanical and predictable at low rpm.
Brakes are good, bushings are all good (just had them checked out and replaced 1k miles ago)
Thanks!
"Is your linear an automatic? The automatics have an extra electric vacuum pump that comes on to hold the vacuum in the brake booster and vacuum system when needed. It is generally for when the car is running at low rpms and the brakes are being used (stop and go traffic)"
