P0116 and Failed Temp Sensor Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 9 Jan 2018 05:07:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I received a CEL on the drive home last night. Identified as P0116 on my code reader for Coolant Temperature Out Of Expected Range and reset. I monitored for coolant temperature this morning on my drive to work and also for a recurrence of the CEL. Coolant Temperature ramped up normally but after 10 miles of expressway driving the needle dropped to Zero. No CEL or movement from the Zero reading over the next 25 miles.
I am pretty sure I have a new Temp Sensor in my parts cabinet. January in Michigan is not the time to be lying under your car outside doing coolant draining. How much coolant will gush out If I do a rapid 'Out with the Old and In with the New' temp sensor swap?
Thanks,
