Brake Booster, kind of a stupid question but....

Hey Everyone! I've been away for a bit, but still driving a couple of Saabs and buying a "new" one now.
My lovely wife has a 2008 9-5 Aero which recently had a broken vacuum line to the brake booster. The new line went in fine *except* for that stupid grommet on the booster.
Sadly, I inadvertently pushed the old grommet inside the booster while trying to install the new line. I had a spare, and now the line is properly installed.
Here's the question: Can I just leave that grommet inside the booster can? Or do I need to rip that booster canister apart and get that rubber bit out of there?
Any help appreciated! Thanks gang.
