ADL6009 - Sorry to have pointed everything toward tires/wheels, but with the huge difference I feel each time I swap the snows onto my two daughters' cars in the Fall, even with 'Aero' suspension, I thought that was a place to start. By the way, I have them running Nokian R2's in size 206/60/16 - so a teensy bit taller than nominal 'correct size' but with no rubbing, and the speedometer is still just a touch optimistic.
Snowmobile's suggestion on a set of used 1999 springs might be a good one for you (maybe from Goldwing ??). The rear springs can certainly interchange, since the rear shock mounts are common across the years. I have replaced shocks & struts on 1999 SE, 2005 Arc, and two 2006 'Sport' Sportcombi's. From what I recall, I would guess the 1999 front springs would fit the newer cars too.
But you will be running an experiment if you try the older springs, spacers to correct for rear spring sag, and Sachs shocks and struts spec'd for the 1999's. You need one of the experienced mechanics on the board to comment about whether changes in sway bars and front control arm ball joints & bushes on the 2002 and up cars will work against you.
Best of luck ! And tell us how it comes out !
