Ive always thought an alignment was the same no matter where you took your vehicle. I did work on my pickup which required the upper control arm being removed. Come to find out after the upper control arm was off the truck it is a huge front end alignment item. So I figured no prob run it to the dealer to get it back to spec right. I've even enformed the dealer the upper control arm needs to be adjusted, the truck dose have a 7 inch lift on it, & at the time it was equipped with brand new street tires (not off-road) the dealer had the truck for a two hours then took my money and said alls good. 8 months later my street tires are destroyed, running hard on the outter edge. So fine went to Tire Kingdom and chatted with those dudes for a bit. They told me and I quote ' I wouldn't let us touch your truck, and if you want the alignment done right firestone is where you want to go' that blew my mind. Firestones competitor telling me to go there. In the end after firestone did the alignment on the truck they showed me a report of where the dealer set the front alignment and it was way way out of whack. It's ben a year now with different front tires and they are wearing perfect.
FYI on firestone, they may know how to set the alignment but I would have them do any other work that involves mechanics. My 9-5 always had a slight pull to the left so I thought to bring it to firestone and see just how good they are. They told me my 9-5 was unalign-able and the lower control arm bushing needed to be replaced, and happily gave me a quote of 1000$ for them to fix it all. Of course I said no & found a seller on e bay that is selling the 9-5's driverside and passenger side lower control arms with front and rear bushings installed on them along with tie rod ends all brand new. All this for 87$, super fantastic deal after getting the parts and a two hour install (diy'r) a revisit to firestone my 9-5 is a dream. I'll always go to firestone or their tire plus spin off if im ever dealing with an alignment issue. It's the place to be for sure
