Remove one line. Cut the new line to match the removed line in length, plus a little bit more for ease of install. Then attach the two ends of the new line before you forget where both ends go.
Even when replacing the old black lines with new black silicone, the new lines will be shiner and more flexible to assist with identifying which is old and which is new.
A task I need to perform on my 2008 9-5. I had left-over 4mm silicone from doing this job on my 2000 9-5 but used it all on my Viggen.
