Trying a European source for ATF Fill Plugs 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 11 Mar 2018 13:35:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have tried to buy a replacement ATF fill plug for my '08 Aero via Saab factory parts sources. Failed!
I tried to have a local custom machine shop make these M17x1.5 plugs. Failed!
I bought a dipstick and tube from an '05 car to fit my '08 tranny. Too large to fit in the hole. Failed!
I have searched the internet looking for sources of these plugs. Failed, all sources were kits that included an unnecessary and expensive Tap. Until today!
I noticed that the Euro based sources of these plugs had another common descriptor accompanying the plugs, 126-SM17. I searched on this nomenclature, found web sites of auto parts suppliers with lower costs.
I just ordered a set of five plugs for ~$11 USD, which includes transatlantic shipping to Michigan. Cheap enough to risk the expenditure. These have an 8mm internal hex rather than the T55 internal Torx that suffers from tooth failure. I will report back after receipt of these plugs. If all goes well I will have a few to sell or trade
