It is a poorly designed ACC system with multiple failure points were each failure can create its own slew of fail scenarios. I can probably count to 10 different failures I have encountered just with the linkage, levers and motors.
But when all those items are working correctly, you still have one big fail item and that is the A/C housing itself in that the plastic drum/flaps redirecting the air and heat are binding in their travels when the car decides to run its own calibration, which happens unknown to you.
If any of those three items binds up when the system is running the motors and calibrating the end position stops, the ACC panel gets programmed with wrong positions and it will upset the ACC feature delivering incorrect heat and cold.
When you then are running a forced calibration, things might loosen up and the correct values are stored again until the car runs its own self test.
It's a vicious circle.
My car is doing it on and off and I have no interest it replacing the complete A/C housing.
