I used silicone caulk instead... Posted by DnstrDan [Email] (#1361) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DnstrDan) on Tue, 27 Mar 2018 10:50:46 In Reply to: Corner Light Assembly - tab repair, steve, Mon, 26 Mar 2018 14:06:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The top tab fatigued on each of my corner lights in my '99 about five or six years ago, making it impossible to refasten. It sure was embarrassing having those housings dangle from the fenders - held in place only by the harness - and scratching the paint. (They did not fail at the same time.) Even the weatherstripping was shot and useless.
I effected a temporary fix by applying a bead of silicone caulk along the bottom and aft periphery of each housing, then taping it into place until the caulk set. That temporary repair defaulted to a permanent solution for me (see photo). Of course, I'll have to break them loose if/when a bulb replacement is required.
