They said the CPS was sensing the engine speed, so I guess they had some way of checking that it's sending a signal as the engine turns. Swapping in my old DIC seems to have solved it, but they're going to test drive it tomorrow (too much traffic right now).
They also didn't find any fuel leaks, and since it's running, the fuel pump is likely ok.
I don't trust my old DIC, nor that the CPS is good, so I ordered new ones and will swap them in this weekend and keep the old ones as spares.
