Thanks for raising your questions. I actually just did the bottom and aft edges; at the top I put a big blob of it over the broken tab where it would otherwise mate with the fastening screw. Clarification: by "tab", I'm referring to the top plastic protrusion that accepts the mounting screw - not the two other tabs you showed in your photo.
I don't remember exactly which brand I used, but something like Prestone Black Silicone adhesive sealant would work just fine. If it ever becomes necessary to remove the housing, I will likely need a small sharp knife to slice the bead. There are no hidden places where sealant was applied so this should be straightforward.
I did not try caulking just at the top tab location, precisely because the stock weatherstripping was shot and IIRC the corner light assembly did not align properly without it. (I have no recollection what the other tabs looked like.) With the caulk along the bottom and aft, the alignment was correct (as the photo shows) and that assembly is securely fastened! In your case, a minimal application of sealant might do the trick if the rest of the assembly is in good shape structurally.
