The manual A4s are a lot of fun to drive. I don't remember driving a manual with the 30 valve V6. It's still a fast car, but not as quick as your 9-5. I bet you'll find it smoother, and the quattro is an awesome system. Ask for record of a timing belt change. The interval is 75k, I think, but with the age, you'd be smart to change it unless there is a documented change within the last 5 years.
The manual eliminates one big concern on these cars now at over 15 years old--the auto transmission. I think the body electrics aren't as robust as on the 9-5. Expect window regulators, seat heaters, lock switches, etc., to need replacement. The suspension likely will be tired now, even at low mileage. I would look carefully at the paint, as I've seen a lot of that vintage Audis with serious fading and clear coat peeling--not unlike the 1st series 9-5s! I'd also look over the engine bay carefully for evidence of coolant leaks and overheating. It's an aluminum engine, and the cooling system is generally not considered a strong point on these cars. Bent valves from lack of timing belt maintenance, though, seems to take most of these out.
