Re: Advice on new windshield - No PPG/PGW! - Saabnet.com Bulletin Board
Beware windshield replacements from PPG company. Not the company nor reputation it once was. The windshield I got was actually PGW (Peking Glass Works?) and labeled "Made in China". With insurance and installation discount, I barely paid anything, but the glass was pretty bad. Rather than a smooth continuous curve transition at the mating edges with my 1999 9-5's metal roofline, the glass looked like it had been more abruptly bent at the edges to meet the edge of the roof! Also the vision area on the driver side was noticeably distorted and I confirmed this by laying a straightedge on the glass in this area and there was a slight concave curve in this area!! I'd stick with the European OEM band and demand this from your insurer. Kirk d
