I do have a spare thermostat, and will try to swap that as well.
The temp gauge will start off normally, and stay that way for a good portion of the drive, so I don't think it is a warmup issue
The revving happens ONLY when the temp gauge is falling, or just dropped off, and even then, apparently only when I am bringing the car to a stop, and the throttle is being maneuvered. In steady state - driving, idling - there are no throttle excursions.
Coupled with the codes I am pulling, tells me that there is an electrical issue with the sensor, and that is my first inclination. I do plan to R&R the thermostat, though that might not happen this weekend.
