While you may see movement as you describe, its possible that the components aren't moving as completely as they should (i.e. not through their complete range of motion) or with too much or too little resistance as they fail. That could cause the codes to trigger.
IIRC, its not that ACC knows if the physical component is broken. Instead it is using data from way the motors are operating (how much they turn) to determine how it is driving the doors.
