Just Did Junctions J108 - J111 -- ABS wiring to rear wheels Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Sat, 26 May 2018 20:52:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My thanks to Dano in Texas, AIZZO, and Bernie . . . .
I have two 2006 wagons under my "COD" (Call on Dad) maintenance program. The lower mileage of the two has 126K, and it's had every-once-in-a-while occurrences of Brake/ABS/TCS warning lights. They come on, and go off again - so far never leaving a code. I was ready to jump on this repair last Fall, but the symptoms went away with the colder weather. It's been high 80's to 90 this past week, and the symptoms came back - along with a week for me to access the car =).
I know that it could be an ABS module getting flakey, but for a 2006 that would be the most expensive item. The Jan 2006 PI bulletin on intermittent ABS error that AIZZO found (see URL to AIZZO's post) was for cars through 2005, and this is a late 2005 production 2006 wagon. Today I used Dano's tutorial to re-build the four rear ABS junctions under the left rear passenger foot well carpet. I used 18 gauge stranded wire to replace the crimp connections - soldered and shrink-wrapped, then the bundle re-taped.
While I was at it, I removed and replaced the brake light switch (right side) - tried replacing with a FACET switch of same part number, but it did not function (no cruise) out of the box, so I cleaned and re-installed the old SAAB part. Now I'll have my daughter drive it a while and see whether the errors return.
Thanks to folks on this board who help out !
