That's what did, mom and pops Saab shop' the car was on the lift in second upon my arrival and them using power tools the hole job was done in under 20 min. Pulled my old struts, swapped the springs and reinstalled. I was impressed on just how fast the operation was with tools at the ready. After to was done they asked for 30$ all they chargeed was labor, but of course I always over tip. because the time I saved for doing the job and the speed at which it was done is $$$ in my eyes.
D.i.ying the car is really only for one purpose, saving the bucks. Buying a strut with a new spring pre-mounted and just having a direct install would be the cheapest rout. It's what I did with my pickup. Unlike Saab struts and shocks the pickup o.e.m struts are pre-assembled with a new spring. Just tossing out the old assembly was quick and easy. Suppose GMC,Ford,Dodge all have the same part code for the same strut making it economically feasible to just toss out the old spring where as Saab built many different models using crazy spring sizes on each. Trying to find a new pre-loaded spring strut to fit your exsact model would take a bit of research.
