I was thinking of installing the new Koni Active front struts. They probably have thinner piston shafts than the Bilstein HD so I'm thinking all the other hardware like bump stops will fit. I recently installed Koni STR.T shocks and struts on my daughter's BMW e36 and have been pretty happy with them. And yes, I do all the extra rubber parts and such when doing them. BMW OEM parts fit on the Koni STR.T shocks & struts. On the SAAB hardware will include tower bearings.
Our '04 9-5 Aero has rear Bilstein HD's. I don't really want to go to the expense of Bilstein front struts. I think the Konis will be adequate and the damping rates won't be that different.
