Strut Bar Thoughts Posted by Doug W [Email] (#2371) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug W) on Sun, 5 Aug 2018 22:00:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just tried installing a Krona strut bar on an '04 Aero. It worked for about five minutes and I was pleased with the results. As soon as I got into the boost the tube to the throttle body popped off. The bar contacts the tube and a bit of engine movement popped the tube off. At least on my car there is insufficient clearance. It was a real ordeal getting the car home. When I checked for limp mode I found the intake tube loose.
My son's '03 Linear has the same brace / bar and it works just fine. Not sure why. Part variability? Car variability? Maybe some of each. All I'm sure of is that I won't be using it.
IMO an adjustable bar is the way to go, but I've never seen one for a 9-5. For now the car is OK without it.
