Also in NY (metro NYC), with State Farm. Did the same last year on my 2003 9-5 Arc, now with just shy of 280K miles, rusted doglegs, etc.
A few years back, I clipped a deer driving to work -- got very lucky in that the damage was limited to some fender sheet metal and the passenger headlight/corner light assembly. Just over $1,500 in damage, half of which was the Xenon assembly and they surprised me by covering it. Adjuster said just a couple hundred more in damage or being over 250K at the time would have resulted in it being totaled.
Feel like I dodged one there. Mechanically still runs great and I enjoy it, but just couldn't see carrying the collision.
