The ARP studs have been in place on both of my 2004 Aeros for quite a few years now. I have bern quite happy with the results. They seem to have the correct combination of ductility and strength. In fact, just a few months ago I ran over a refrigerator that flew out of pickup truck on the highway. I hit the fridge at 70mph and went airborne. The damage was extensive and I fully expected to find broken studs buried underneath the broken bits.
Surprisingly the turbo and manifold were undamaged and not a single stud had snapped. The impact trashed all the usual suspects, tore the driver's side and rear the motor mounts, four subframe bushings, flattened two tires and bent two wheels plus the subframe. But the manifold and turbo studs survived. Miraculously.
I access the head and turbo studs by dropping the front apron, jacking up the car, and then jacking up the engine slightly. Next comes removing the yoke, serpentine belt, rubber intake snorkel and air mass meter. Then it's on to the crossover pipe complete with turbo bypass valve, then the fans and shroud and then the cobra pipe. The power steering pump really just needs to be moved out of the way a few inches, and the bolts are easy to reach. Mostly. The exhaust is happy to just hang there, but it is fairly simple to drop and re-hang if need be.
The cobra pipe can be a challenge to replace until you get a feel for it, but the rest is remarkably simple once you do it a few times.
All in all, if the studs aren't too stubborn, you can do it in an afternoon. Sometimes the broken studs will come right out once you start drilling with a reverse twist drill bit. Sometimes not. In my experience, with these cars at least, not once.
