Yup, did this job this past summer Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 21 Nov 2018 18:33:25 In Reply to: thermostat is a wear item, Snowmobile [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 21 Nov 2018 18:05:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Done as part of eliminating the Coolant By-Pass Valve and its rat's nest of hoses. I had the same issue with a stuck-on thermostat housing. I don't remember this issue when doing this job twice on my 2000 which used Saab Blue Coolant. Effect of DexCool maybe?
I did the temp sensor on a cold evening last winter without draining the coolant. I borrowed a Cummins Diesel Engine Valve Train Wrench from a neighbor (a VERY deep offset 3/4-inch box end wrench) and lost only a cup or so of coolant on the garage floor. Kitty Litter to the rescue to clean up the mess! The wrench worked so good I bought an old used one of my own for future jobs.
