Last summer, my petite girlfriend and I struggled to replace the Aero’s (presumably) factory brake switches. A royal pain on a nice day.
Last week, I started getting extra lights on the dash. Usually the “TCS Off”, but on occasion the whole Christmas tree. When the tree lit up, it was not always possible to put it in gear, as the shifter lock didn’t release. It was kinda random, and it would eventually drive. At this point I had brake lights. Most of the time.
Went to go to work today, and nothing would release the shift lock, AND no brake lights!
As it was still dark, and cold, I called in to work, and warned up a while.
Went out & pulled the panel, and checked the fuse, which was good.
Back in to consult WIS. Went out and measured the proper voltage at the fuse and switch input, but nothing at the output.
Dug out the original switches, and swapped the brake switch. Now the brake lights work, the shifter unlocks, and all is well.
Of course swapping these switches is its usual royal pain in the heine for larger than the average bear folk like myself, and the cold wasn’t helping. And of course, the switch i removed today seems to work when the ohmmeter is on it, but...
