I had mine in the machine shop for a complete blueprinting and shaft removal a few years ago. They used a solid bearing as you suggest. I don't know the source, but the shop that did the work is Martin Davidson machine Shop Phone: (818) 705-2441

not sure if they would remember my engine, bu they may be able to give you a source for the full no hole bearing you need. They are a very good shop.
My engine without the balance shafts has like 5-K miles on it and I like it a lot. Has forged pistons and a light aluminium flywheel. really revs well. I have it in a 2000 Aero wagon. No excessive vibrations.
