Colin, I need more info on what you have done to your 2005 transmission. Last previous post I saw from you was in 2017 ?
I would not replace an entire valve body unless I knew the rest of the transmission was in GREAT shape and I was sure the valve body was the culprit. A used transmission can be had for a lot less than $1300, and maybe less than the cost of that Saturn valve body. A used TCM (ca. $100) could be used to confirm the problem really is the valve body.
I swapped out the three Linear Solenoids on one of the pair of 2006 9-5 wagons that I maintain - using a post from another SAAB board. The set of three improved design Rostra solenoids ran me about $200, and since replacement that car has been very solid. I did it without removing anything much but the valve body cover - this can be done in the car, and with it off the other solenoids are accessible too.
You might have a good reason for looking at a new valve body, but I would exhaust other options first.
