This has been a head scratcher.
Rebuild head on car because it had a burnt valve, started fine. Would run fine, lots of power until engine light came on (a few minutes after driving)then had no power. Put in park, cleared the engine light, but there were no codes.Turned car off ran good again for few minutes until light came back on--- through all this no codes tripped. It did not smoke or anything. When it ran, it was a screamer faster than it was.
A week later, started up again, got black smoke, would try to start and die; could not even get it to run. Did fuel pressure test/checked OK, then did vacuum test, found a vacuum hose not connected at front of engine. Now it has a different set of symptoms, starts fine, runs smooth for about 30 seconds then starts chugging, black smoke, smells rich. As it does this vacuum is good at first, then starts fluctuating wildly, then drops o nearly nothing. Do get p1300 code. Changed out DI cassette for known good one and throttle body, one at a time, no change.
We are stumped.
